The best Halloween Episodes/Shows on Disney+ 2021

This week I’m going to do something a little different from what I usually do.  In honor of Halloween coming up next weekend, I’m going to be making a list of Halloween shows/episodes that I really enjoyed on the Disney+ streaming service recently (just an FYI:  most of the episodes are animated, though I’m adding one live-action show); and since Halloween isn’t for a few days, I may add to this list as we get closer to Halloween.  Also, a lot of these shows might be for young kids but I think, as I’ve stated in my bio, that people should hold on to the inner child within them (and keep in mind that some of these shows will have jokes that only adults might get).  So, without further ado, I present The Best Halloween Episodes/Shows on Disney+ 2021!

Puppy Dog Pals: Return to the Pumpkin Patch/ Haunted Howl-oween

Puppy Dog Pals is such a cute show, especially since pugs are one of my favorite dog breeds, so I always enjoy watching this one!  The two pugs, Bingo and Rolly, go on missions to help their owner, Bob.  In these two Halloween episodes (really one episode split into two segments), the pugs are searching for a lost collar and their neighbor’s lost Halloween costume.  This episode was very fun, and I find the characters to be so adorable, especially Rolly!

Miles from Tomorrowland: Ghost Moon/Stormy night in a Dark Nebula

This show is kind of interesting to me, and I like to describe it as Star Trek for kids.  It follows Miles, who lives in space with his family (which includes an endearing robotic ostrich named Merc), and shows him and his family travelling to many different planets.  Despite this show being for young kids, I find it intriguing because sometimes the plots can be kind of complex for a young kids’ show.  These Halloween episodes, one episode split into two segments, follow Miles and his family checking out a planet that’s supposedly haunted and then exploring a Dark Nebula.  Just a warning, though, that while this show is appropriate for all ages, it can get a bit confusing at times (it confuses me and I’m not even the target age group).

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Treat

Ok, so I must admit that this show may talk down to kids a little too much sometimes but I still find the characters cute (and I find that this show grows on you after a while).   As most probably know, this show follows Mickey Mouse, who runs a clubhouse and goes on adventures with his friends.  In this episode, Mickey and his friends have to get to their friend Pete’s Halloween party before night falls.  Despite what I say above about the level of talk, I think the show is honestly harmless for kids to watch and I think the characters are so fun!  I actually find Pete to be one of the more interesting characters; even though he’s villain of sorts, he’s actually very amusing to watch.

Muppet Babies: Happy Hallowocka/ The Teeth Chattering Tale of the Haunted Pancakes

I think this is one of my favorite episodes on the list personally! This show’s a reboot of the popular 80’s cartoon and it follows the Muppets as little kids who go on adventures using the power of their imagination.  In this episode, Fozzie Bear attempts to become scary, and Kermit the Frog doesn’t want to try blueberry pancakes since he’s never had them before.  Despite the fact that I’ve never watched anything Muppet-related, I thought this show was really cute and sweet!  It reminds me a little of The Backyardigans.  I know it’s a remake of a classic 80’s show but I wouldn’t let that prevent you from trying it (and you just can’t go wrong with a show with a penguin in it)!

The Rocketeer: The Haunted House/The Halloween Heist

I decided to try this show while I scrolling through Disney a couple weeks back, and I actually really liked it.  This show is based on a series of popular comics that was turned into a 90’s movie and that follows Kit, a young girl who becomes the next Rocketeer and saves her town from interesting supervillains.  This episode follows Kit trying to save a friend’s hamster from a haunted house and trying to stop a supervillain from stealing Halloween costumes.  Despite this show being based on comics/a movie that’s not for kids, this show works pretty well.  I haven’t seen other episodes yet but I do think the characters are cute (especially the bulldog!) and the plotlines are interesting.  Just an FYI, I learned that apparently this show was unexpectedly cancelled after one season, and I’m not very happy about that.

Doc Mcstuffins: Boo-Hoo to you! /it’s Glow Time

If you don’t know who Doc Mcstuffins is, you’re definitely missing out!  This show follows Doc, a young girl who is a doctor to all toys and who has a magic stethoscope that makes toys come to life.  This episode, which is split into two segments, follows Doc helping a young toy ghost who’s terrified of Halloween and helping her brother’s toy alien who’s not glowing like he’s supposed to glow.  I personally really enjoy this show!  It’s very sweet, the characters are cute, and the show’s even a bit educational as it teaches kids to take care of their health and also to be less fearful of medical things.  It’s honestly one of the best young kids’ cartoons I’ve seen.

The Lion Guard: Beware the Zimwi!

If you are as much a fan of The Lion King as I am, you should definitely check this show out!  The Lion Guard follows Kion, Simba’s son, who is gifted with the Roar of the Elders and who becomes the leader of a group called The Lion Guard, which protects the Pride Lands from harm.  In this episode, Rafiki (which means “friend” in Swahili) tells some young animals the story of a creepy creature called the Zimwi; and Kion and The Lion Guard set out to prove that the Zimwi doesn’t really exist.  I think this show is very cool!  It has fun characters, interesting plotlines, and you even learn a bit a Swahili throughout the show.  This show might be for kids who are a little older, though, as we all know how scary The Lion King can be, and a couple of the characters are annoying, but that’s my only complaint.

Giganotosaurus: Scary Bill/ The Dino Finder

I wasn’t 100% sure about this show at first but it’s really starting to grow on me.  This one is about four young dinosaurs who go on adventures in a prehistoric timeline (oh and a fun fact:  the show’s title is actually the name of a real dinosaur!).  The first episode/segment is about one of the dinos, Bill, who goes on a quest to find the missing ingredients to his pumpkin bread; and the second part is about another young dino, Rocky, wanting to become really good at finding his friends during games.  The more I watch this show, the more it grows on me (though one of the dinos looks more like a frog than a dino).  Also, I must say that the animation of this show is pretty cool looking!  It reminds me a little bit of a pop-up picture book!

The Owl House:

This cartoon is one of my new faves and I’ve really wanted to talk about it but wasn’t sure where to start.  So, I thought I’d talk about it here! This show is about a girl, Luz, who is obsessed with the fantasy world but her mom thinks she’s going in too deep.  Thus, when Luz is on her way to a juvenile delinquent camp (per her mom’s request), she finds a portal that leads to a magical fantasy word where she befriends and becomes an apprentice to a rebellious witch named Eda.  I could talk about this show all day but I’ll just say that the theme of the show is perfect for Halloween.  While the show is a bit slow and odd at first, it gets interesting the more you watch it.  The animation and characters are great!  I would recommend this show for older, responsible kids only, though, due to some cartoonish fantasy violence/darker magic.

Gravity Falls:

This show is another fantastic Disney Channel cartoon that I love!  Gravity Falls is about two twins, Dipper and Mabel, who go to spend the summer with their great uncle (or “grunkle”), Stan, in the town of Gravity Falls.  When creepy things start happening, they realize that something strange is going on in this town.  This show is awesome!  I love the characters and the plots.  While this show can be creepy at times, some really funny moments offset the creepiness.  Obviously, I’d recommend this show for older kids only due to some of the creepy plotlines.  But it is truly great!

Wizards of Waverly Place:

The only live-action entry on this list, Wizards of Waverly Place, is about a teen girl named Alex who lives with her parents and two brothers in New York City.  Alex and her family are secretly wizards and, throughout the show, Alex tries to use her powers to get out of certain scenarios, but most of the time her plans end up backfiring.  Despite the fact that I watched a lot of Disney Channel shows in middle school, I never saw this one, which seems kind of strange considering the fact that I’m a huge Selena Gomez fan!  I find this show to be very funny and I like a lot of the characters (Justin’s my favorite!).  FYI, as it goes with most Disney Channel shows, the parents in this one do seem quite clueless a lot of time.  (Why do cartoons and tween shows always seem to make parents look clueless!) I think it should be fine for responsible kids to watch this one, but I would definitely recommend it for older kids only just because I think lots of younger kids wouldn’t really get most of the Disney channel sitcoms.

So, you have a different way of doing things, a different way of seeing things. That might make you weird, but it also makes you awesome. Don’t you see? Nobody should be punished for who they are!

What a great list, Evangeline! I’m so happy that you did this! While I love animated shows, I have actually not seen several of these. And I look forward to checking them out soon. I hope you’ll do something similar for Christmas (since it’s right around the corner). Also, I absolutely love the quote you chose this time and, as usual, your pic is awesome! Thank you for all of it, most especially for making my Halloween a lot better this year with your seasonal post!

I’m glad that you enjoyed this post! I definitely plan to make more lists! Doing one for Christmas is a great idea! I’ll try to get started on one as soon as Disney puts their Christmas collection out! I would love to know your thoughts on the shows when you decide to watch them. Thanks for reading!

I had no idea that there were so many Halloween shows/episodes. I have only seen the Charlie Brown one.
Naturally I liked the first one about the two dogs, Bingo and Rolly. Your setting was really good. Your writing shows great talent.

Thanks for this list. I’m actually pleased that I am familiar with several of those shows. Some through Liam and others through my older boys. We didn’t watch much tv over Halloween but I’ll keep these in mind.

I’m so happy that you are familiar with some of these shows! A lot of people I know aren’t into cartoons sadly and thus would probably not know most of these shows. I hope you decide to check some of these out! At this point though it might feel awkward to watch the Halloween episodes but there are still a lot of other episodes to watch! (Well minus The Rocketeer unfortunately) Thank you for reading!
